Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions Grooming Policies and Practices:
Please carefully read and familiarise yourself with the following policies and practices prior to booking and attending appointments at The Tetbury Pet Shop. By booking you automatically accept the terms listed below.

Health Requirements:
Dogs must be up to date with flea and worm treatments.
Dogs must be up to date with all vaccinations.
Dogs must be in good health. Grooming sick and elderly dogs is done at the owner's risk. Please note that grooming procedures can expose underlying health and skin issues, and The Tetbury Pet Shop cannot be held liable for any complications that may arise.

Deposit and Cancellation Policy:
A deposit is required prior to any grooming appointment.
The deposit amount will be communicated at the time of booking.
We have a strict cancellation policy to honor the time and effort dedicated to each appointment.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment a 100% charge of the total service price will apply.
Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will result in a 50% charge of the total service price.
Cancellations made before 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will not incur any cost.
Rescheduling is subject to availability and can be done without additional charges before 48 hours of the scheduled appointment.

Matted Coats:
Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, all matted coats will be clipped off.
We prioritize your dog's welfare and safety, and we aim to make their salon experience as positive as possible.
Clipping may result in a very short coat, as short as 1.2mm, depending on the severity of matting.
It is crucial to clip under the matting to avoid the risk of catching the dog's skin and causing injury.
We recommend owners check the skin regularly after grooming, as underlying nicks, cuts, or potential problems may be uncovered.
The Tetbury Pet Shop cannot be held liable for any after-grooming effects or problems related to mat clipping, such as itchiness, skin redness, or self-inflicted irritations/abrasions.

Matting Prevention:
Common areas prone to matting include behind the ears, armpits, face, feet, and rear end, but matting can occur anywhere on the body.
Regular and thorough brushing, ideally at least once a week, can prevent matting. We can advise you on the best tools for your dog's coat.
Removing the collar at home when not needed and limiting the use of coats and jumpers can also help prevent matting.
We are more than happy to create a grooming plan to ensure your dog's coat does not reach a matted state.
Aggressive or Dangerous Dogs:
Owners must inform us if their dog has a history of biting or shows aggression towards people or other dogs.
Additional charges of £10 may apply due to the extra time and staff required to handle dogs with behavioral issues.
If your dog should bite, the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income, and equipment damage.

Accidents:
While we exercise extreme caution and care, accidents can occur during grooming.
Grooming scissors and equipment are sharp, and dogs that move or wriggle around can increase the risk of nicks, scratches, and quickening of nails.
We make every effort to ensure the safety of your dog. However, we may refuse to continue a groom if it becomes too dangerous.
In the event of an injury or illness, we may involve a veterinarian. Unless we are clearly liable, all costs associated with veterinary care and instructions will be the owner's responsibility.
We highly recommend that all dogs are insured.

Fleas/Ticks:
We maintain a flea and tick-free salon environment.
If fleas or ticks are discovered during the grooming session, the dog will be bathed with a flea shampoo, and the salon will undergo thorough cleaning and treatment.
An additional charge of £10 will apply to cover the costs associated with flea treatment and salon disinfection.
Ticks will be safely removed, and the affected area will be sprayed with an antibacterial disinfectant.

Dogs in Season Policy:
We do not accept bookings for grooming appointments for female dogs in season.
Female dogs in season may exhibit unpredictable behavior and cause unnecessary stress to themselves and others during the grooming process.
If your female dog comes into season unexpectedly, we kindly request that you reschedule the grooming appointment after the season has concluded.
Rescheduling is subject to availability, and we will make every effort to accommodate your new appointment date.
Owners are responsible for notifying us in advance if their female dog is in season or exhibits signs of being in season.
Failure to inform us of the dog's season status may result in the grooming appointment being cancelled, and cancellation charges may apply.

Post-Surgery Waiting Period Policy:
We cannot accept grooming appointments for dogs that have undergone surgery within the past two weeks.
Dogs need sufficient time to recover, and grooming procedures may pose a risk to their post-surgery healing process.
Before scheduling a grooming appointment, owners must obtain medical clearance from their veterinarian confirming that the dog is fit for grooming after the specified waiting period.
Owners are encouraged to schedule grooming appointments after the two-week waiting period has passed and the dog has received veterinary clearance.
Rescheduling is subject to availability, and we will make every effort to accommodate your new appointment date.
It is the responsibility of the owner to provide accurate information about the dog's recent surgical history when booking a grooming appointment.
This policy is in place to prioritise the safety and well-being of dogs during grooming procedures and to prevent any potential complications associated with recent surgeries.

Cancellation and Late Charges:
The Tetbury Pet Shop requires a deposit of the specified amount for every grooming appointment.

A 24-hour cancellation policy is in effect.
Any cancellations made within the 24-hour period a 100% charge of the total service price will apply.
If the cancellation occurs between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled appointment, a 50% charge of the total service price will apply.

Rescheduling is subject to availability and can be done without additional charges before 48 hours of the scheduled appointment.
Owners are requested to arrive on time for their dog's appointment and adhere to the agreed collection time.
A charge of £10 will be applied for every 30 minutes of delay beyond the agreed time.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these policies and practices. They are in place to ensure the well-being and safety of all dogs under our care and to provide the best possible grooming experience. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please don't hesitate to contact us.
